About Us

A family-run approach to exceptional care

At The Sands, we understand that choosing a care home is one of life’s biggest decisions. That’s why we’ve created a place where people feel safe, valued, and genuinely cared for—whether they’re staying for a short respite or long-term support.

With two welcoming homes in Morecambe, we offer high-quality nursing, dementia, and respite care delivered by experienced professionals who take the time to truly know our residents. We combine clinical expertise with warmth, dignity, and a personal touch that only a family-run care group can offer.

The Sands was founded with a simple mission: to provide the kind of care we’d want for our own loved ones. Over the years, we’ve grown from a single home to a trusted local care group, known for our friendly staff, homely environments, and commitment to person-centred care.

Our core values

A person-centred approach is our ethos here at The Sands Care Home Group. This is fuelled by our values, which are found in every nook and cranny of our homes and teams.

Dignity

From personal care, to dressing to privacy, preserving dignity in every aspect of life is something all our residents can expect.

Respect

Understanding and respecting our residents’ individual traits and preferences means we can deliver the standard of care that they deserve.

Individuality

Quiet, loud, sensitive, curious. People are amazingly different. And that doesn’t stop just because you get old! Simply spending time with our residents is a crucial part of our care and how we are able to tailor someone’s experience with us.

Independence

Whether a daily walk along our beautiful promenade, or simply the option to say no to something, we believe in providing freedom of choice for our residents and don’t put boundaries in their path to independence.

Meet the team

Behind The Sands is a team of dedicated carers, nurses, and support staff who bring skill, kindness, and heart to their work every day. Many of our team have been with us for years—and it shows in the relationships they build with residents and families.

Josh
Managing Director

I oversee the operations of the care homes and am lucky to have an amazing team delivering our care across the homes.

I am a huge advocate of person-centred care and believe that being in a home is not the end of life, it is simply the start of the next phase.

A phase that we can make enjoyable, exciting and pleasurable for everyone who comes to stay with us.

Tracey
Registered Manager (The Sands Care Home)

I oversee everything across our care homes. My clinical background for over 30 years in nursing that helps me make decisions in both standard and more specialised care.

I support our teams in their daily tasks and carry our reporting duties and liaison with authorities such as CQC. The Sands is special in that it offers multiple types of care in one building.

I love to see the different personalities that develop in each unit, made possible by the residents and caring teams within them.

Julie
Deputy Manager (The Sands Care Home)

I support the matron in all day-to-day aspects of running the home.  I carry out most of our pre-admission assessments, meeting and greeting prospective residents and their families and welcoming them to the home.

I believe in showing people the life and vibrancy we’re able to offer here and the sense of connection with families and local communities.

Ella
Manager (The Sands Meadows)

I am responsible for the residents and the staff at The Meadows.

We provide EMD care, meaning we care for people with dementia on a residential basis. I make sure that everything runs to plan every day and that our residents are able to live as independently as possible in a safe environment.

I view our home as creating a family for our residents while they are with us.

Kevin
Team Leader (The Sands Meadows)

I am responsible for the oversight of all employees, residents and those visiting our home. I’m proud to work at such a homely and community-based home in Hest Bank, where we can engage with local communities and use our local environment to make the best experience for our residents.

Anne
Customer Service Coordinator

I have been at the Sands since 2003 and I work front of house.  I am often the first point of contact for residents and families.

I love to meet and greet people and set them at ease within our homes, showing them round what we do and making it as welcoming an experience as possible for our residents.

Andrew
Training Coordinator

I arrange and carry out all training for employees here at the Sands Care Group.

I view my role as setting high standards within the homes and ensuring that they can be maintained, whether that is through softer skill such as kindness and compassion to specific courses in areas such as mental capacity or manual handling. I love my job as it enables me to make a difference every day.

Kind words from residents and loved ones
